ABSTRACT
This paper deals with competition in agriculture from an evolutionary economic perspective. Similarities and differences of biological and socio-cultural evolution are elaborated. The major factors determining the competitiveness of different strategies and farming types are studied. Some implications of increased competition are outlined.
